Happy New Year!
January is not just an ordinary month. It’s the first month of a new year. It symbolizes the first month of a whole year of clean pages waiting for what God will write into our lives and the blessings He has in store for us. One of the first pages in your new year book is probably already filled with questions and uncertainty. Maybe you are too tired from last year to even be able to think about what the new year will bring. No matter how you enter into this year, whether you are running into a a new season with energy and vigor, limping across the finish line, or crawling your way out of a tough calendar year, you are loved and never alone. Our savior promised in Matthew 28:10 “I am with you always.”
This new year we will see many events take place in our lives. God uses events in our lives to shape us, to teach us, to grow us. “Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth… I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” Isaiah 43:19 Memories of the past year can easily feel like shackles holding us to failures, regrets, ignorance, foolishness, and sin. However, God doesn’t want us bound to our past. When God saves us from the death we deserve for our sin, He frees us from the guilt and shame of our former life as well. He gives us a fresh beginning. He frees us to receive every good thing He wants to give us. Today is a beautiful day to embrace the Lord’s fresh mercies for your life! Lamentations 3:22-23 says, “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassion never fails. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.”
