One Body In Christ

For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them. Romans 12:4-6

September is always a fun month here at school. As the excitement of the new year begins to fade, we start to see our students, families, and teachers in a different light. Each teacher in this school is different just as each student is different. They bring to the classroom their own unique gifts and quirks. Just as each family has a unique structure our relationships with one another have unique structures. We have gifts, quirks, and qualities that shape who we are and how we function. Often these differences are recognized and praised but sometimes these differences can separate us apart from the group or cause strife. Deep down we all desire to find a sense of belonging. We don't want to be separated from the group. We don't want to be different. Unity as the body of Christ gives us that sense of belonging while embracing how we are each so very different from one another. The bible says we are all one body in Christ with gifts that differ according to His design. These gifts, when used to glorify God, are beautiful. The trick is, how do we put aside our human assumptions and work together. We look to Jesus for His help with this. We are His creation. Made exactly the way He designed and with a specific plan in mind. When we work with our fellow Christians, keep this in mind. This will help us work together for the Glory of our Lord and Savior. This month I saw so many examples of how this has been demonstrated within our Atonement Family. From helping those who are sick and hurting to celebrating accomplishments in the classroom. It is amazing how unique experiences and opportunities are used by our Creator to knit us together. How beautiful the family of God is!
