Adventure Awaits

As we stand at the trail head of a new school year, I find myself inspired by the word "Adventure". This life we have been given by our Creator is certainly an adventure! We travel so many trails with our friends, families, church, and jobs. It’s exciting and often scary to venture out into the unknown. My family alone seems to have continuous “Adventures”. It’s exhausting at times to continuously encounter new twists and turns along the trail. I often find myself quoting Bilbo Baggins. “Sorry! I don’t want any adventures, thank you. Not today! Good Morning!” After all Bilbo did say, “It’s a dangerous business going out your door. You step onto the road and if you don't keep your feet, there's no telling where you might be swept off to.” The Lord never promises the life of a Christian will be easy. In spite of the uncertainty, He asks us to follow Him in faith. He says to us just like Gandalf said to Bilbo, “I am looking for someone to share in an adventure that I am arranging, and it's very difficult to find anyone.” The Lord promises we will never be alone. He will always be there to guide and direct us. After all, He is arranging this adventure. He will be with us along the way. He promises to show this to us through His Word and Sacraments. This is what brings me peace along the trail.

Please pray for the staff, parents, and students as we set out along the trail of the 2018-2019 school year. We don’t know what the end of the trail will look like but we do know that we will not be alone. The Lord has placed the task of bringing children up in the faith and knowledge of Him and He promises to be with us every step of the way. Please pray we have the energy and the tenacity to follow Him fearlessly as He leads.

Serving together in Christ,

Megan Larson
