Weekly Devotional Helps, September 7-13

Updated: Sep 10, 2020

Our Gospel reading is one that links us to a certain petition in the Lord’s Prayer. We pray, “Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.” We desire forgiveness when the law of God is brought down upon us. It can be harder to deal with the second part of that sentence in the Lord’s Prayer. Our reading puts a parable into our heads and hearts to see what it means to forgive those who trespass against us. Many of you have been sinned against greatly in your lives by people who were close to you. It is hard to look at forgiving those who sinned against us. I would encourage all of you to have the Gospel reading from Matthew memorized to help you to see what forgiveness of sins from God looks like and how we too forgive others.
